I'm trying to understand what I heard today about averages... your average is ONLY adjusted up...can't go back down as an AVERAGE is meant to represent...AND..... WAIT FOR IT... you only use this upward adjusted "number" in tour stops - you revert to your book average in events. [Insert side eye here] So you are re-rated by UBA ... but not really? Or just sometimes? What in the world?????

My understanding is that it can go down just not lower than book. I.e. If it goes up Ten pins after 4 Stops and you shot a bad set the 5th stop your average does go back down but can only go down a max of ten pins. As far as events using book, it seems like a non issue. season tour is a league for all intents and purposes so it should keep an average across stops, unlike tourneys that use book. That isn't just uba. If you Bowl league and the same alley runs a tourney you don't use current average in most cases. Just my opinion :)
